Appearance: It's hard to determine how tall Keigo really is, because of the fact that the kid never seems to be able to stop slouching. Everywhere he goes, he appears to have a curve in his posture, as if he's too tall for his own good or always trying to keep himself at eye level of everyone else. He usually straightens up while talking to people taller than him, like Chad, and when he does so, it's probably safe to estimate him at taller than 5'9", possibly reaching 6', as the top of his head just almost reaches to Chad's chin, who is 6'6". His hair is a light brown, short and layered, looking choppy and somewhat uneven in spots and is the longest at the back of his head. His eyes are a dark brown, almost black, and he has bushy eyebrows and a slightly upturned nose. His face is slender, matching the rest of his body which is slim and skinny. The majority of his height is made up of his long legs and he has long arms to match, both lanky and showing off his joints, which stick out quite visibly. He usually has a goofy grin on his face and seems to have the ability to contort his face in any way possible, depending on his moods, which are usually extreme ends of emotion and having no real median.

Clothing is usually worn baggy and several sizes too big, and sloppily to boot. He never tucks his shirts in, never wears his uniform to code, and his street clothes usually consist of button-down shirts, which are worn open with print t-shirts underneath. His pants are also several sizes too big, baggy and falling over his shoes. He's also been known to prefer loud colors and obnoxious patterns with his clothing, which shouldn't come to much surprise.

Personality: Keigo is the kind of person that most wouldn't try to over-analyze as he really doesn't appear to offer much; everything that one would be potentially curious about Keigo is laid out for them rather nicely. He's obnoxious, over-reactive, dramatic, very lazy and extremely superficial, and by this point, he is usually tuned out. And while all those traits are definitely ones that can describe Keigo fairly well, there are certain parts he seems to be more willing to show to those he's close to than just the general public.

He's actually rather book-smart, despite his horrendous grades, and a fast-learner, picking up on things rather quickly, though this fact seems to be one he is all too eager to hide from just about everyone. In fact, if anyone he considers to be a friend makes the top of the grading list, Keigo will promptly call them a "traitor" or a "nerd" and just raise hell in general. He's a firm believer in "Carpe Diem" and absolutely detests schoolwork as he is under the impression that life is too short to immerse oneself in studying.

Keigo can become worrisome and anxious over little things, most of which pertain to his friendships. Being something of a jealous person, he doesn't enjoy being shoved aside in favor of someone else, and he absolutely cannot stand being ignored and will do just about everything in his power to be heard, from yelling to jumping on people. His temper is easily set off by small things as well, and an easy way to piss him off would be to make fun of him, even if it was something seemingly insignificant. He blows things out of proportion more often than not, though even so, it also doesn't take a great deal to calm him down.

Keigo is very talkative and perceptive to attention given to him by anyone--though most notably, women--, and one can expect him to go on long tangents about everything if give the chance. He loves things like gossip and rumors as well as the occult, though when it comes to actually putting belief into the occult, he tends to be easily scared if things start looking a little too real for his tastes.

Every aspect of Keigo's emotions, feelings or opinions on subjects has a physical gesture to go with it, from flailing to wide arm gestures or outright grabbing people. He's very much physical-contact-oriented, meaning that if he is comfortable around a person, they can expect to be subject to these moments of hyperactivity and touchy-feely-ness. The best way to defend against this is a swift kick to his face, which he has grown disturbingly accustomed to from hanging around those like Ichigo and Tatsuki.

Though, Keigo does have a slight problem with trusting people. He is judgmental, making assumptions based on rumor and a person's physical appearance, and if he finds someone to be particularly strange, he won't readily approach them or want to have anything to do with them, either out of fear or his own ego. This will go for just about anyone he meets first-hand, unless their physical appearance doesn't fall into Keigo's personal category of "strange." This doesn't mean he isn't open to change, however. If he finds the person to eventually have something he considers a redeeming quality, he would be more than happy to befriend them.

But becoming Keigo's friend comes with something of a price and that price is attention. Keigo is very much into spending time with his friends whenever possible and he is very clingy, disliking the idea of being by himself for long periods of time. But, those who are Keigo's friends can also expect him to look out for their well-being, showing concern and worry for them when needed. However, Keigo can be slow to nag someone if they appear to be down and he will often worry in silence, trying other methods to cheer them up, such as being a goofball.

Most prominently of all, Keigo is an enormous flirt and he will openly comment on how cute or attractive a girl is. He will also make attempts to charm girls by smooth-talking and being very gentlemanly, but more often than not, these attempts are met with utter failure and being one-upped by Mizuiro, much to his chagrin.

In general, Keigo is upbeat and cheery, despite being easily discouraged or disenchanted. He has an elasticity to him, making him bounce back--either literally or figuratively--easily in most situations.

Abilities/Strengths: By the point in the manga I'm taking him from, Keigo has no known or shown spiritual ability. So, he has no special powers or abilities to speak of. Outside of that, Keigo is very loyal to his friends, to the point of being a worrywart, but he won't overstep his boundaries and typically allows his friends to chose what they do and how they do it. He's very trustworthy and tries hard not to second-guess his friends and their decisions as he usually trusts that they know what they're doing. Keigo is also book-smart and quick on the uptake, able to understand things and situations rather quickly. While he might be weak physically, he has a high resistance to physical blows and can recover from them rather quickly, mostly being conditioned from being everyone's punching bag at some point.

Weapons: None.

Weaknesses: Physically, Keigo is weak. He's tall, but frail and lacks a lot of substance to him. He wouldn't be able to hold his own in a fight and he would need someone to assist him if he ever got into trouble. Keigo is also pretty easily distracted and scatterbrained. It wouldn't take a lot to stir him out of a serious mood--unless it was a really serious matter, like a friend getting injured--and a pretty face is usually enough to do the job. Keigo also has a very short temper, and likewise, it wouldn't be hard to get him angry. A big thing is also his shallowness; Keigo would be easily distracted by an attractive face and it might even sway his better judgment. Keigo might be more accepting of someone who looks attractive but isn't necessarily nice or "good" as opposed to someone plain or ugly who was far nicer. He's also very lazy and unmotivated, and tends to think things through with his heart rather than with his brain, making him appear idealistic. Keigo is skeptical to things that are out of his range of reality and will make excuses up for their existence, such as being dreams, despite his interest in the occult.

History: Keigo was born in Narukishi, a suburb of Tokyo, Japan, and lived with his parents and older sister Mizuho. His early life was nothing to speak of; the real interesting events started his first day of high school.

He and his best friend Kojima Mizuiro had been talking about their admittance into Karakura High, and as typical of the teen, Keigo was screaming about two apparent delinquents who had also transferred into Karakura High from a different middle school. Their names were Kurosaki Ichigo and Sado Yasutora and according to various rumors Keigo had heard, they were the most violent, nasty punks around, guilty of various crimes such as reading porno mags for five hours straight in a bookstore and spreading the seeds of destruction wherever they went.

As the two of them talked about their class listing, Mizuiro pointed out their classroom number and as fate would have it, the two punks were in their homeroom. Keigo nearly had a conniption fit, fretting over what horrors could possibly befall the two of them having to be classmates with these dangerous teenagers, most of which were heavily ignored by Mizuiro. However, having nothing to back this information and fear up meant it was easily refuted, and that very same day, the supposed punks arrived on the scene to beat down a large group of bullies that had crowded the grounds.

Among the confusion, Keigo managed to get stomped by one of these bullies and as he screamed--quite pathetically--to Mizuiro for help, Ichigo came to his rescue, leaving Keigo with only a few minor scratches and bumps. This event completely turned Keigo's opinion on Yasutora--who he would thereafter call "Chad"--and Ichigo around, and from that day forward, he would befriend them, constantly hanging around them and trying to get them to go do things after class with himself and Mizuiro.

Things would remain this way for several months, even after Ichigo's meeting with Kuchiki Rukia, as by this point, Keigo hadn't shown any spiritual powers of his own. He was indirectly involved with an incident with a spirit that had become attached to a pet cockatiel, which belonged to Chad at the time. He didn't seem to notice that the cockatiel was anything unusual--aside from being far smarter than any other bird of its kind--and when the spirit was eventually released from the bird's body, he didn't understand why it suddenly couldn't speak as well as it did before, but he didn't press the matter. After that, he managed to catch a glimpse of Kon, the modsoul who was in Ichigo's body at the time, running away from Arisawa Tatsuki after he had kissed Orihime on the hand. He didn't know what was going on, other than that Tatsuki was pissed off at Ichigo for some reason, and after Rukia and Ichigo, in his shinigami form, came up to the classroom to cut Kon off, he was left to help clean up the mess that Tatsuki made.

When Ichigo left to visit his mother's grave, Keigo was none the wiser about what the day signified, and didn't press the matter when Ichigo returned the day afterwards, instead urging Ichigo to come with him and the rest of their friends to go see a taping of an occult show. After some yelling and convincing, Ichigo ultimately came, but used the excuse that his family wanted to go to the taping as well. At the taping, Keigo and Mizuiro got separated from the rest of their group and ran into some cute older girls who ended up dragging Mizuiro off. Keigo spent the rest of the taping with Chad until Mizuiro came back, watching the taping until Ichigo stampeded onto the set to try and prevent Don Kanonji from turning a spirit into a Hollow. Keigo tried to stop Chad from getting involved, and ultimately failed, remaining by his side through the rest of the incident until they left after Ichigo was released.

The next day at school, Keigo and the rest of the group were called to the principal's office to be reprimanded for Ichigo and Rukia's antics being filmed and broadcast on the show with the reasoning of that none of them tried hard enough to stop their friends from doing what they had. After some very convincing acting by Rukia, the group hauled ass out through the window to their escape. This ends chapter 33, where Keigo will be taken from for the game
